Feb 2010 - Township Supervisor
John Merdan and his wife Jane received the
2010 Avon Hills Lifetime Initiative Award. The Merdan's
received this honor for a lifetime of dedication to land
preservation, habitat improvement, and working farms and forests.
John and Jane Merdan have made wildlife habitat improvements on
significant portions of their property over the years, reducing
pastureland while increasing quality and quantity of habitat for
deer, waterfowl, turkey, and numerous species of native plants.
A Reinvest in Minnesota easement permanently preserves open spaces
and habitat. The Merdan's demonstrate good stewardship
throughout their family farm and they are active community leaders (Link

CAPX2020 Project
- Because of the bottleneck caused by
the lakes along I-94, the CAPX2020 power line will be rerouted.
Currently the first choice for rerouting the new line is straight
through Avon Township, including portions of Tower Road. Because
of the unique agricultural and ecological features of the township, the
Supervisors believe that the line should go elsewhere. The
Supervisors are exploring options for keeping the line out of the
township.
